Church Council
The word “Council” means an “assembly or meeting for consultation, advice, or discussion.” Zion’s council meets once a month on the 3rd Thursday to oversee the life and activities of our congregation. Any voting member of the congregation is eligible to serve on council. Council members are elected at the congregational annual meeting, generally for a three (3) year term.
It is a privilege to be part of a team of council members who faithfully care for the needs of Zion and serve in a position of committed, dedicated and wise leadership. My hope is that participation on council will result in:
- Personal interest and growth in knowledge of the functions and duties of this congregation
- As a way to explore a deeper sense of God’s call by serving as a congregation leader
- And as a commitment to join other dedicated members to oversee and perform the administration of this congregation to enable it to fulfill its mission
If you are asked to serve in this capacity (or wish to volunteer), prayerfully consider the request. Then say ‘yes.’ I promise it will be a personal growth experience and an opportunity to learn in-depth about our congregation’s committees, events, challenges and accomplishments.
