EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS

Here at Zion we value Christian Education for children, adolescents and adults. Our programs provide quality hands-on learning for the whole family!

Sunday School

F.I.S.H. BannerWe offer an exciting Sunday School Program for youth ages 3 years old through 6th Grade. We call it the "F.I.S.H." program, which is an acronym for "Faith Is Shared Here." Children learn Bible stories and lessons through the use of music, cooking, art, theatre, and other media. Zion members of all ages teach all of these classes, sharing their faith in many creative ways!

Children 3 years old through 3rd grade meeting during worship services between the First Reading and Communion. Fourth through 6th graders meet on Wednesday evenings. Check the Sunday School page for the schedule of activities we have planned! We hope you will join us!

Junior High Confirmation

Children in 7th and 8th grades will be having confirmation class on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 7:00 pm. This group, along with our high school age youth will also be merging with the group from Church United Methodist Church in Deerfield. These activities will take place on Sunday evenings. For further information, please contact Julia Arbaugh.

Adult Education

Adult Bible Study is offered most Wednesdays at noon, to allow those at home, as well as those who work (in the local area) to attend during their lunch hour. Participants are invited to bring a sack lunch. Please call the church office for the list of current topics.

Vacation Bible School

Each summer Zion hosts Vacation Bible School for a week with leadership provided by Lutheran Outdoor Ministries in Oregon, Illinois. We usually join up with the Deerfield ecunemical community (Holy Cross and United Methodist) for this week-long day camp for children ages 4 through the 6th grade. Please look for more information next summer!
