WORSHIP & MUSIC

One of the most important and integral parts of Zion is the devotion to share Christ's love through the making of music and worshipping.

Choirs & Music

Zion enjoys a rich tradition of music. In fact, it music is one of the things that makes Zion so unique! From Amadeus Mozart to Ruth Duck, from traditional to contemporary, Zion's musicians have a repertoire that appeals to everyone.

Childrens, Youth and Adult Choirs, Youth and Adult Handbell choirs, and musicians of all ages are featured at Zion Worship Services. We also encourage those who play instruments to share Christ's love by performing various music in our worship service. Visit our Choirs & Music page for details on joining a choir or sharing your musical talent.

Altar Guild

The Altar is a preacher, silent indeed, but eloquent. Plain or richly adorned, it bears constant witness to vital Christian truths. In the past planning and caring for the Altar and its adornments had been the responsibility of the pastor and his deacons. Today, the Altar Guild has full charge, under the direction of the pastor.

The Altar Guild is a quiet, working organization comprised of dedicated women of the church. Their duties consist of preparing the altar for worship, changing the colors for the seasons and special occasions, polishing the silver vessels, preparing for communion on a weekly basis, baptism, laundering the fine altar linens, placing candles and flowers on the Altar. They also provide palm crosses for Palm Sunday, prepare the Advent wreaths, and procure the lilies, poinsettia plants for Easter and Christmas. There are 20 members of the Altar Guild that are divided into teams of three or four to serve for a month twice a year. New members are always welcome.

Symbolism in church provides individuals with aids for their worship of God. The Altar Guild provides care of these symbols in order to make our worship meaningful. Read about the symbols of our altar here.

Outdoor Worship

We have several opportunities throughout the year where we worship outside our sanctuary space. These opportunities include services in the Memorial Garden and fire pit area. We celebrate the change of seasons and nature's continual rebirth as a gift from God.
