The Journey of Confirmation

The practice of confirmation comes out of Baptism. The technical name for confirmation is Affirmation of Baptism. It is simply, the confirmand stating they will live by the promises their parents or guardians made when they were first Baptized.Â
Â
In confirmation, a student learns about all that God has done for them; reads the Bible, the Lutheran Small Catechism, and shares their thoughts, in order to grow in their faith. They will learn Lutheran Theology (we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ). When they are confirmed, they are saying, this is what I believe and will live by.

At Zion, Confirmation is more than a milestone—it is a personal invitation to explore faith, ask big questions, and discover your place in God’s story. It’s a season of growth where our youth are encouraged to make their faith their own in a supportive, Christ-centered community.
